Tree Walk: Oxon Run Park

Join Casey Trees with Tree Ambassador Glenn Hall for a Tree Walk at Oxon Run!
We’ll start off with an easy-paced tree walk, where Glenn will give an overview of the history of Oxon Run Park and then point out some of the species of trees in the park, and finally go over the importance of green spaces such as Oxon Run Park.
A little about Glenn: “I am a graduate student in UDC CAUSES program studying Urban Agriculture. I am also Director of Operations for Friends of Oxon Run. I consider myself an environmentalist through and through and look forward to working towards a greater and greener future for my community and the entire world.”

What to expect:
An easy-paced tree identification walk experience. The whole event will last approximately one hour.
Where to Meet: Meet at the James E Bunn Amphitheater, right off Mississippi Ave SE.
Parking: Street parking is available nearby
Public Transportation: Public Transit: The closest metro bus stop is Mississippi Ave SE & #1200, served by buses W2 and W3. The nearest metro stop is Congress Heights on the green line, about a 10 minute walk from the meeting point.
Biking: Bikes may be locked to nearby structures.
Register: Please register in advance as space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of attendees.
Waiver: All attendees must pre-register and sign a completed participant waiver form BEFORE participating in the Tree Walk.
Youth Attendees: Youth may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend clothes to protect you from the sun. Please wear closed toed shoes that are comfortable for walking.
Arrival: Please arrive on time. Check in will begin at 10 am and the tree walk will take place from 10am- 11am.
Water and sunscreen: Please bring a full water bottle and sunscreen to stay hydrated and protected from the sun during this outdoor event.
Food: No food will be provided on site, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event. Be sure to leave no trace and pack out any trash after the event! There will be some trash cans on site.
Animals: No animals are allowed into the event, except for service animals.
