Our Educational Programs
Looking for ways to connect your students with nature? Our educational programs offer a variety of engaging experiences for all ages.

“Every year Casey Trees’ staff teaches thousands of students about the importance of trees and urban forestry. Alongside the curriculum, our team harvests trees at our tree nursery in Berryville, VA and works with the same students to plant hundreds of trees within their schoolyards. This “teaching and doing” approach is incredibly powerful and highlights the fact that urban schoolyards can and should be – green schoolyards.”
– Mark Buscaino,
Executive Director

TreeWise: Jr. Urban Forester Program
Did you know there are over 2.5 million trees in Washington, D.C.? We need your help to take care of them all! Become a Junior Urban Forester through our TreeWise environmental camp-style youth program.
We currently can offer programs in D.C. proper, for your youth aged 5-12.

Our educators are funded through grants or programs. Our educators have limited capacity to teach our signature programs at schools, camps, churches and more.

Our Schools need more trees
Our 2023 Tree Report Card showed that DC schools have a much lower tree canopy (13%) than the city as a whole (37%). We also found that canopy varies wildly from school to school, and by school type. This is a problem because trees make schoolyards cooler, cleaner and healthier places for students to learn.
By setting goals and planting more trees, we can create greener, healthier schools for everyone in DC.
