On April 4, magic was in the air as we teamed up with the Washington Wizards and Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation to plant over 40 trees at Banneker Place Apartments in Southeast Washington, DC.
Rain was in the forecast, but that didn’t stop the Wizards, who continue to show up for our community by creating greener, healthier neighborhoods through trees. That’s particularly important in Ward 7, which, as our map shows, is one of the wards most at risk for extreme heat and poor air quality.

This planting marks another milestone in our partnership with the Wizards to transform urban spaces into vibrant green havens where residents can connect with nature right outside their front doors.
Here’s what Washington Bullets Alum Michael Adams had to say about the day: “The community has given us a lot, and so it’s our job to give back to the community—whether we’re current or former players.”
A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, Team Leaders, and the Wizards for another rewarding day of cultivating our community and tree canopy.
