We held our first community tree planting of the season last Saturday at Catholic University of America (CUA), and it was a day to remember!
This was far from our first event at CUA. Our collaboration with the university has resulted in over 300 trees being planted alongside our Brookland neighbors. With 176 acres of land, Catholic University continues to be instrumental in restoring Ward 5’s tree canopy.
At this most recent planting, we added over 40 trees with the help of our dedicated Team Leaders, volunteers, and university students. These trees are critical to both our city and CUA students as they will grow into a lush shade canopy on University Mall—where commencement is held every year—providing cooler, healthier air for generations of students to come.
None of this would have been possible without the support of Latham & Watkins. This was their second time planting with us, and their team has been a valuable partner in supporting our community.
We’re grateful to Latham and all our volunteers for rolling up their sleeves to help both our community and our environment. If you’re interested in joining us in the field, take a look at our upcoming events and join us!
