Field Report: An Arbor Month Photo Recap

We blinked and Arbor Month is behind us. From tree plantings, to tree walks, to tree care events, we’ve had a month chock-full of trees — just how we like it. Let’s take a look at Arbor Month by the Numbers:

More than 450 community members joined us throughout Arbor Month across all our programming. Together we were able to plant 544 trees and care for 457 trees just last month.

Thank you so much for showing up for DC’s trees this month!

Oxon Run Planting | April 20 | With Friends of Oxon Run and some stellar youth volunteers, we planted 10 species of plants — including yarrow, blue grama, meadow garlic, mountain mint, aromatic aster, and more.

Langdon Park Forest Walk | April 21 | Canopy Award Honorees Mary Pat Rowan and Delores Bushong led a group of community members through the new Forest Walk at Langdon Park, identifying exciting signs of natural regeneration.

Earth Day 5k | April 23 | Over 200 runners came together for the first in-person Earth Day 5 hosted by Little Sesame x Casey Trees! If you came by our table at the Afterparty and regret not purchasing a For the Trees hat or Species Guide, don’t fret — you can shop the collection now. Arbor Day Community Tree Planting | April 29 | We were thrilled to spend Arbor Day morning with nearly 40 community members to bring 28 new trees to the grounds of Trinidad Rec Center.

Just because Arbor Month is over doesn’t mean our work is — we need your support year-round. Commit to a monthly gift today — even just $5 — and join your neighbors in helping us restore, enhance, and protect our city’s tree canopy.
