Last week, hundreds of residents and tree advocates from across the District sent letters to the Council telling them not to raid the Tree Fund in their budget bill. Thanks to our advocates we delivered over 400 letters to Councilmembers, and they have responded saying they are working on restoring the funds! While the final vote still needs to be taken May 24th, we have reasonable assurance that the $1.4 million for trees will be restored, and 4000 additional trees can be planted next year. We will be watching the final budget vote on May 24th to ensure the Tree Fund is indeed intact. Stay Tuned!
