Thanks to You, We Made Some Records This Past Year

A big, heart-filled thank you to all those who made a charitable gift, volunteered, followed, planted, or partnered with Casey Trees in 2021. It continues to be an unprecedented, uncertain time in so many ways, and we could not have made it through without your support.

Thanks to over 500 donors, almost 60 of which were totally new to Casey Trees, we raised almost $85,000 in our end-of-year giving campaign! To all donors, old and new we want to say thank you.

All of the funds raised will go directly towards our mission of safely restoring, enhancing, and protecting the beloved tree canopy of our nation’s capital. As always, our broad group of supporters and friends stepped up and showed us the power of the little things and what we can accomplish together.

And what an accomplishment was made together! We planted 4,543 trees this year – the largest season in Casey Trees history. 75% of installed trees are categorized as large and medium canopy trees! Director of Tree Operations, Robert Shaut, noted, “I think we all recognize the hurdles and challenges faced this year – I’m extremely proud of our supporters, team, and the organization.”

We are also very proud that 60% of trees planted this year were in our target Wards 5, 7, and 8. Check out more on why we are focusing our efforts in these areas here.

The year may be over, but is always open and available. Consider becoming an Evergreen member and supporting trees year-round. You can also give one time, shop our online store, and even adopt a tree and send it as a gift!

We truly appreciate your generosity, friendship, and shared belief that a tree-filled DC is a better place to live, work and play. Cheers to 2022 and our favorite things returning: events with dozens of volunteers, an Arbor Day bash celebrating our hard work, and planting trees throughout all eight wards.
