Rooted in Nature, Winter Solstice Gathering
Sat December 21 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST
Join Casey Trees as we celebrate the Winter Solstice!
Join us for reflective nature time, crafts, tea and snacks that give thanks to our trees as they enter the winter months. We will gather on this transition day and acknowledge it as the shortest day of the year, and the darkest. Learn about the work we do to protect our trees, gather with the community, and enjoy some down time with the start of winter.
What is winter solstice? It is known as the first day of winter and when the earth’s tilt to the sun causes the shortest amount of daylight in a day during the year. Cultures around the world celebrate fire and light on this day. It is also a time when nature shifts, like our trees. They have lost leaves to prepare for the colder, darker days in order to store up energy until spring.
