Earned Accreditation

We have exciting news to share—Casey Trees has officially been awarded national accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission! This designation recognizes our steadfast commitment to responsible land conservation and governance, ensuring that the spaces we protect will thrive for generations to come.

This milestone is a testament to the hard work of our Policy and Land Conservation team, who have dedicated years to strengthening our practices and policies. Through rigorous verification, Casey Trees has demonstrated sound financial management, ethical conduct, and an unwavering commitment to long-term land stewardship. We now join a network of over 450 accredited land trusts across the country that uphold the highest conservation standards.

For over two decades, Casey Trees has worked to restore, enhance, and protect the tree canopy in the nation’s capital. Achieving Land Trust accreditation underscores our evolution—not only as tree planters and advocates but as stewards of vital green spaces that shape the future of our city. Our advocacy journey has led us to forge strong partnerships, secure conservation easements, and advocate for policies that safeguard urban forests.

Two of our signature conservation easements, Crispus Attucks Park and Hellbender Hill, reflect our deep-rooted commitment to preserving green space in Washington, DC. Crispus Attucks Park, a hidden gem in Bloomingdale, remains a vital community space thanks to local stewardship and conservation efforts. Hellbender Hill, named after the brewery that once stood there, stands as a testament to the ecological significance of protecting our urban streams and forests. Earning accreditation is more than a badge of honor—it solidifies Casey Trees’ role as a trusted leader in land conservation. This recognition affirms our ability to permanently protect the lands under our care and strengthen advocacy for policies that expand urban tree canopy coverage. Moving forward, we will continue championing green space protection, engaging our community in conservation efforts, and ensuring the legacy of DC’s trees endures.

We are immensely grateful to our supporters, volunteers, and partners who make this work possible. This achievement belongs to all of us, and we look forward to celebrating many more conservation victories together!
