As the anticipation builds for this year’s Canopy Awards, we take a moment to celebrate our esteemed Honoree for Volunteer Service, Pat Spillman. Pat’s dedication to serving our community and preserving our natural environment has left an unforgettable impact. Pat’s tireless efforts in volunteering and advocacy for urban green spaces have set a standard of excellence and commitment. Let’s honor Pat for his exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication to our mission.

Pat Spillman has been one of Casey Tree’s most dedicated and humble Team Leaders since 2018. As someone who truly believes in the importance of volunteers getting outside and planting trees, he makes sure to connect his team to the greater mission, and is a wonderful role model for our volunteers.

Team Leaders have some key responsibilities: ensuring planting quality and safety, educating volunteer teams, and encouraging everyone to have fun planting trees! Pat consistently goes above and beyond at our Community Tree Plantings to fulfill these responsibilities. Also, Pat has been a mentor to new Team Leaders, welcoming them into the community and teaching them how to best manage a team to effectively get trees in the ground.

Pat is reliable, enthusiastic, and always willing to help others while keeping a positive attitude at even our most challenging sites. So far at Casey Trees, Pat has attended over 70 tree planting events, inspiring volunteers and planting hundreds of trees across DC.

He’s also no stranger to trees, before arriving in the Nation’s capital – Pat was planting with Trees for Houston. It was there that Pat worked with students at his daughter’s school to teach them about the value of planting and to instill a desire to want to plant trees!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pat Spillman for his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to volunteer service. Pat’s impactful work serves as an inspiration to us all, demonstrating the power of dedication and community engagement.
