Join us for the End of Spring!

We have had a wonderful start to our spring season, and we are moving forward with plenty more events and ways for you to join us this season. We hope to see you at locations all around the city for tree plantings, care events, identification walks, and more!

Friday 4/19 – Spring Back to Kingman Island: Earth Day – Invasive Removal and Island Clean Up

Give back to the earth and provide a hand in helping to keep the islands free of trash and invasive species. Join us for easy service time of collecting trash or helping to pull/remove invasive vines to ensure that young trees have a chance to grow. All tools provided.

Saturday 4/20 – Community Tree Planting: Emery Heights Community Center

Join us this Earth Day as we plant trees at Emery Heights Community Center! We provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site. This planting is presented in partnership with Latham & Watkins LLP.

Saturday 4/20 – AWS Earth Day Clean Up: Hellbender Hill Invasive Removal

Join us this Earth Day for a special clean-up at our Conservation Easement! Volunteers will help with Cleanup & Invasive Plant Removal. This event will likely involve lifting, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces and/or steep slopes. Participants will be expected to wear closed-toed shoes for the duration of the event.

Saturday 4/20 – Anacostia Community Museum Earth Day

Join the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum on Saturday April 20th as we Honor and Celebrate our Earth! Meet community partners, enjoy family friendly maker activities, and explore our latest exhibition “A Bold and Beautiful Vision”.

Saturday 4/20 – Health & Wellness Fair with Emory Fellowship

The mission of the Health and Wellness Ministry is to help the community care for themselves and one another – to attain, maintain and/or regain the best possible WHOLE-person health and wellness of body, mind, and spirit.

Monday 4/22 – Community Tree Planting: Gallaudet University

Join us at Gallaudet University for a Community Tree Plantings! We provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site.

Friday 4/26 – Community Tree Planting: Emery Heights Community Center

Join us as we plant trees at Emery Heights Community Center! You provide the volunteers, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site.

Friday 4/26 – Spring Back to Kingman Island: Arbor Day – City Nature Challenge

Learn how to use iNaturalist and join the global City Nature Challenge. Casey Trees staff will have resources to learn how to make a species tag and identify trees on Kingman and Heritage Islands. More information on the challenge can be found here.

Friday 4/26 – Washington Spirit Sustainability Night 

Watch the Washington Spirit take on the Orlando Pride on April 26 at Audi Field! Come out and say hello to Casey Trees at the community corner.

Saturday 4/27 – City Nature Challenge Nature Walk at Oxon Run Park 

Join Casey Trees during City Nature Challenge with Tree Ambassador Glenn Hall for a Nature Walk at Oxon Run! We’ll start off with an easy-paced tree walk, where Glenn will give an overview of the history of Oxon Run Park and then point out some of the species of trees in the park, and finally go over the importance of green spaces such as Oxon Run Park.

Saturday 4/27 – DC United Sustainability Night 

Watch the DC United take on Seattle Sounders FC on April 27 at Audi Field! Come out and say hello to Casey Trees at the community corner.

Saturday 5/4 – Community Tree Planting: Hyattsville Duck Pond 

Join us as we plant trees at Hyattsville Duck Pond! You provide the volunteers, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site.

Saturday 5/11 – Community Tree Planting: Armed Forces Retirement Home

Join us for a special tree planting at Armed Forces Retirement Home! You provide the volunteers, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site.

Friday 5/17 – Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit 

Each year, approximately 400 District students attend the Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit. At this FREE outdoor event, students interact with environmental educators from numerous public and private organizations and engage in hands-on learning experiences, including Citizen Science BioBlitz and interpretive boat rides on the Anacostia River.

Saturday 5/18 – Community Tree Planting: Congress Park Apartments 

Join us for a Community Tree Planting at Congress Park Apartments! You provide the volunteers, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site.

Saturday 5/18 – Bloomingdale Community Day

Bloomingdale Community Day is an opportunity for the Bloomingdale neighborhood to gather, celebrate, and give back to the community and green space. Located at Crispus Attucks Park, 9am-3pm, stop by the Casey Trees table to learn more about our organization, planting opportunities, and our work with the park.
