As the weather cools down, newly planted trees experience less stress from extreme heat, allowing their roots to establish more effectively. Cooler conditions also reduce the risk of water loss due to evaporation, ensuring that your trees receive the moisture they need to thrive.  

During the fall, soil temperatures remain warm even as the air cools. This unique combination encourages robust root development. When the air temperature drops below that of the soil, shoot growth ceases and roots continue to develop until the soil dips below 40℉. Trees planted in autumn have several months to establish a strong root system before the hot summer months return. This strong foundation prepares them to withstand the challenges of summer droughts and ensures healthier, more vigorous growth in the long run.  

This season also brings just as high a likelihood of rainfall, when compared to the region’s spring and summer months. This naturally can reduce the need for supplemental watering, saving you time and resources.
