It’s Arbor Month y’all! The city is bursting with blooms, we are back to retreeing all eight Wards together with volunteers, and the trees are hard at work cleaning the air and fighting climate change. Yet we still need to play our part to protect the trees young and old so the District will be able to remain a livable place long into the future.

The weather is gorgeous and the company is even better. Our calendar is stacked with ways to get outside and flex your green thumb – tree walks, plantings and classes, and even an Earth Day 5K with Little Sesame are all here for the taking. Register now!

Friday, April 8 – Community Tree Care at Fort Greble

Sunday, April 10 – Palisades Tree Walk with Capital Nature

Saturday, April 16 – Community Tree Care at Highland Dwellings

Thursday, April 21 – Meet In Your Park: Takoma Recreation Center

Friday, April 22 – Community Tree Planting at Capital Area Food BankTeam Leaders Only

Saturday, April 23 – New Hampshire Avenue Easement Cleanup and Invasive Plant Removal in partnership with the Anacostia Watershed Society

Friday, April 29 – Community Tree Planting at Trinidad Recreation Center

And while it’s great to take a day (or month in our case) to celebrate our Earth and trees for keeping us alive and well, it’s also important to contribute to its wellbeing year-round. Plant it forward and pledge to make a difference all year. Our planet, its trees, and future generations thank you.
