Spring is in Full Swing at Casey Trees

Believe it or not, it’s been a year since we canceled our volunteer events due to uncertainty regarding the coronavirus pandemic. We have learned a lot since March 2020 both as an organization and as a city. In the months that followed we have completely overhauled our safety procedures, hired additional crew members to help with the work volunteers usually take on, planted trees throughout the city and built out an entire suite of virtual classes for adults and students.

But as our Executive Director noted last week, the beat marches on – in nature and in life. March brings a lot of things to District including redbud blossoms, #peakbloom predictions, and lots and lots of tree plantings. We’ve started our spring planting season in earnest and our tree operations crew will spend the next few months adding over 1800 trees to over 40 different sites at apartment buildings, houses, business, parks, recreation centers, churches, and public spaces in all eight Wards. This is an exciting return to a semblance of normalcy for us!

While times are challenging, the energy and ideas of Casey Trees and our city remain as creative and strong as ever. The light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter each day and we’re eagerly anticipating the day we can safely welcome our cherished volunteers back into the fold. Until then, will you donate to support our work? The work we do is still vital to trees, and there is so much more to be done! Your donation today allows our staff to continue this expansion of work – because trees need us and we need you.
