Come and Lend a Hand at these Fall Inventories

Can you believe it is almost the end of August?! Fall signifies quite a lot of things, but around here, it means our fall volunteering season opens! Join our Technical Services and Research team as they work to inventory trees throughout the District. We need your help! Don’t know the first thing about identifying or measuring trees? Never fear! All participants receive a hands-on training and groups are guided by seasoned team leaders.

September 6 | Park Inventory at Upshur Recreation Center
Join Casey Trees on their first inventory of the fall season! We’ll be at Upshur Recreation Center to inventory DC’s park trees. Many of these trees have never been surveyed for their health, size or species.

September 19 | Park Inventory at Heart Recreation Center
Be a part of our efforts to inventory trees in the heart of Northwest D.C.!  Want to put your tree skills to the test as we survey trees at Hearst Rec Center?

October 3 | Park Inventory at Franklin Square
Welcome October at historic Franklin Square! During our survey of the park, we’ll be documenting tree species, height, diameter of the trunk, width of the crown, overall health and more.

These inventories are a great opportunity for Citizen Scientists, people looking to hone their tree identification and measuring skills, or anyone looking to get outside and learn. If you’ve participated in our Trees 101 or Trees 201 class, this will be a great way to put your knowledge into action.
