Apply for a Tree Planting Site

Each spring and fall Casey Trees helps groups add trees to private and public property through our School and Community Tree Planting Programs. Approved groups receive trees, tools and technical assistance at no cost.

Applications are accepted year-round. Those received by May 1st will be considered for the upcoming fall (October – December) and spring (March – May) seasons.


Community Tree Planting

We are seeking groups interested in adding ten or more trees to private and/or public property. Good sites are parks, gardens, private residential property like neighborhood blocks, and institutionally owned land like university and military campuses. The program is not intended to fulfill street tree requests. Applications are accepted year-round. Those received by May 1st will be considered for the upcoming fall (October – December) and spring (March – May) seasons.
Before submitting an application, be sure you can:

  • Plant 10 or more trees
  • Obtain permission of all property owners where trees will be planted
  • Provide morning refreshments and lunch to volunteers.
  • Commit to a three-year post-planting maintenance plan.

School Tree Planting

Our School Tree Planting Program engages young people in their local environment, and the addition of trees to any school campus enhances the outdoor classroom for developing, young minds. Students serve as volunteers to install trees at their schools.

We are seeking principals, teachers, or staff at K-12 schools interested in adding five or more trees to school property.

Successful applicants work with our Youth Programs Coordinator to help select tree species and planting locations on the school campus and to develop a maintenance schedule.

Before submitting an application, be sure you can:

  • Plant five or more trees.
  • Obtain approval from the school principal or facilities department.
  • Commit to a two-year post-planting maintenance plan.
