TreeWise is Casey Trees’ nature- and place-based summer education program, developed to get youth outdoors, interacting with and appreciating trees. Adult counselors lead youth participants in fun, hand-on activities including scavenger hunts, leaf and bark rubbings, tree identification and water relays — tailored to be age-appropriate.

Summer 2016 TreeWise will run from June to August, 2016. Sessions are approximately one hour long and take place Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Each session requires a 10 youth participant minimum and has a 20 youth participant maximum. TreeWise is free for programs located within the District.

To be eligible, groups must be:

  • Comprised of youth ages six to 10 years of age.
  • Able to fill all three sessions (9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) with 10 to 20 unique youth participants. The same participants may not fill all three sessions.
  • Located on a site with mature trees or be in close proximity to a public green space.
  • Accompanied by three (3) adult chaperones that will be present and actively participate throughout the session.

Please also note that all youth participants must have their parent or legal guardian sign a consent form and permission to get a little dirty.

Registration for a summer 2016 TreeWise session date will open June 2016.

Requests must be made online. After you select a date, you will be prompted to provide a contact name and phone number for all three sessions (9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) that day. If your group or it’s availability cannot fill all three sessions (10 minimum/20 maximum per session), please note that in the last field.

After you submit your request, you will be contacted by a Casey Trees staff member to review your request. Please note that submitting a request does not confirm your group’s participation.
