Mark DeSantis is no stranger to Casey Trees — he was the organization’s first Development Associate and was instrumental in launching our Membership program and annual Canopy Awards.

Although Mark moved onto the National Park Foundation in 2014, he has remained a steadfast supporter of Casey Trees and even joined the Membership program he helped initiate.

We thought we would check in with Mark to see what he’s up to and why supporting Casey Trees as a donor was so important to him.

Casey Trees: As a former employee, what brought you back to Casey Trees to become a Member?

Mark DeSantis: After working at Casey Trees for nearly three years, I know first-hand how dedicated and passionate the staff and volunteers are about making our city – and our communities – greener and more sustainable for future generations. It was easy for me to want to support their hard work in any way possible.

CT:  What is your favorite part of Membership?

MD: Anyone who is a member or has volunteered knows that Casey Trees treats their supporters like one big family. It’s such a community-driven organization and their Membership program reflects that – you feel like you’re a part of the work and this larger mission to help our city.

CT: What have you taken with you from Casey Trees to your new position?

MD: The importance of connecting with your work and recognizing the impact it has on this world. Casey Trees reinforced in me the value of being mission-driven and seeing the “big picture” of what we are trying to accomplish each and every day.

CT: Do you have any advice to readers or people looking to join Casey Trees?
