Tuliptree
Liriodendron tulipifera
With its unusually straight trunk, tuliptree logs were hollowed out by Native Americans for use as canoes. Its beautiful flowers, furrowed bark, and tulip-shaped leaves make it a beautiful shade tree.
Size and Light Requirements
Tuliptrees do best in full sun, where they can grow to approximately 50 feet in height in 30 years.
