Special Tree Replacement Program

Special Tree Replacement Form

This form is for use by homeowners who have applied for a permit from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to remove a special tree / heritage tree. Qualifying permit applicants can enroll in the special tree replacement program and receive a new tree (or trees!) planted free of charge. Funding for this program comes from DDOT’s administration of the Urban Forest Preservation Act of 2002. Through this program, revenues are deposited into DDOT’s Tree Fund when permits are issued for the removal of non-hazardous special trees. Please complete all fields below.

Upon submitting this form, a copy of your response will be sent to the email you have provided. A Casey Trees representative will be in contact with you as soon as possible. Depending on our arborists' capacity and availability, it could be up to 2-3 weeks, but we hope to get back to you sooner than that. Thank you.

If you’ve successfully applied for a Special Tree Removal Permit you can replace it through our Special Tree Replacement Program. Accentuate your property with a beautiful shade tree at no cost, and there is no limit to the number of trees that can be planted. To register, submit an application and we’ll do all we can to get your tree planted in the spring or fall.

How it Works

1. Submit an online request

2. Have a home consultation with Casey Trees: Homeowners determined to be eligible for and are interested in shade trees will then be contacted by Casey Trees to arrange a second home consult to select tree species and placement. Trees available through the Special Tree Replacement Program are listed below.

3. Schedule your planting date: Once tree species and locations are selected, a planting date will be scheduled for the spring or fall. You do not need to be present for the planting.

You can choose from 20 trees specifically selected for their environmental benefits. In advance of your home consult, review these trees to get an idea of what tree(s) might be the most suited for your yard. But rest assured, that we will help you choose the right tree for the right location.
