Join us virtually or in-person and become a certified Weed Warrior. This hybrid training will give you the knowledge, skills, and techniques to lead volunteers in removing invasive plants in our region’s parks and green spaces.
Participants are taught to properly identify and manage non-native, invasive plants, so they can support efforts to improve the health of our urban forests on public lands and conservation sites.
The Weed Warrior volunteer program empowers community members to independently steward parkland and natural areas by removing invasive plants in their area.
Please note that this training has TWO parts. Both parts are required to become a Weed Warrior.
- Part 1 is this hybrid training event, which you can join virtually via Zoom OR in person at the Casey Trees office (3030 12th Street NE DC).
- Part 2 will be held outdoors in person on Saturday, November 14, at multiple park locations. We will share the exact sites and locations during the first training for DC, Arlington County, and Fairfax County.
No prior experience is necessary to attend this training and become a Weed Warrior. For those attending in person, dinner and refreshments will be provided.
This training is conducted in partnership with the National Capital Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM) group hosted by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
