On a recent Saturday morning, over 70 volunteers came out to transform Hamilton Manor Apartments in Hyattsville, planting 60 trees around the complex and its playground.
It was a beautiful spring day, but witnessing the spirit of our volunteers on display truly made it special.
Everyone worked side by side—digging, shoveling, planting, and mulching—to create a small forest of trees that will grow into an oasis of shade and beauty for residents and passersby.
This marks our second visit to Hamilton Manor as part of an ongoing partnership with the Washington Housing Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that preserves affordable homes for moderate- to low-income communities of color. Between our two plantings, Hamilton Manor is now home to 100 trees that will benefit the community for generations.
We’re beyond grateful to all our volunteers and Team Leaders who showed up with energy and enthusiasm for another beautiful day of planting and community building. And a special thank you to The American Institute of Architects for making this planting possible and for rolling up their sleeves to plant alongside us!
