Each spring, Casey Trees’ Canopy Awards brings together the DC region’s environmental advocates, educators, volunteers, partners, and community leaders to celebrate those making a real difference for our urban forest. The Canopy Awards are held every year in honor of Earth Month and Arbor Day, spotlighting the individuals and partners working to restore, enhance, and protect our tree canopy. This year’s theme, “Planting Our Legacy, Growing Our Future,” reflects the shared commitment to environmental stewardship and the belief that the work we do today will benefit generations to come.
We are pleased to feature our four honorees: Barbara Shea (Award for Volunteer Service), Joyce Matthews (Award for Education), Dr. David Nowak (Award for Leadership), and Roger Buckner (Award for Sustainability).
