Last Friday, Casey Trees partnered up with our friends at the Kennedy Center and Armenia Tree Project for a night of fun activities, engaging conversations, and a classic movie about the importance of protecting our environment.

Throughout the event, there were various activities for all ages, each offering unique and memorable experiences. At the Casey Trees information table, visitors enjoyed fun giveaways, a spinning wheel, and chatting with us about trees. The Armenia Tree Project (ATP) also shared their amazing initiatives, supported by their energetic staff and interns from the Armenian Assembly of America. Zenith Community Arts Foundation also joined us for the night, sharing information about their mobile woodshop, showcasing their cool programs, and engaging with the crowd.

At our activity stations families loved the library and children’s book nook, where kids could borrow books for some cozy reading on their picnic blankets or listen to a story read by one of our librarians. The bookmark-making station was buzzing with creativity, with participants crafting personalized bookmarks. At the paint-a-pot station, kids and adults alike had a blast decorating terracotta pots and learning about growing oak trees from acorns, taking their beautiful creations home.

The wishing tree, adorned with colorful ribbons carrying the hopes and dreams of attendees, was a lovely symbol of the community’s aspirations for a greener future. Adding to the festivities, everyone had the chance to learn traditional Armenian dances and meet Tchalo, the firefighting dog mascot of ATP, making for a memorable cultural exchange.

As the activities wound down, everyone gathered for some heartfelt remarks, setting the perfect tone for the evening. Soon after, the movie night began with a short film by the Armenia Tree Project, followed by the beloved classic, The Lorax.

The event was a fantastic success, connecting with so many members of our community while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers, the night was filled with fun, learning, and inspiration for all who attended!
