As Land Conservation Month comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has joined us in celebrating and supporting the preservation of our invaluable greenspaces. This month has been filled with remarkable stories of conservation, community engagement, and a shared commitment to ensuring that our natural environments thrive for generations to come.
Throughout June, we have spotlighted some of the incredible locations that are protected thanks to our Conservation Easement Program. But, if you missed any of our highlights, now is the perfect time to catch up:
Crispus Attucks Park: A green oasis in the heart of the city, offering a peaceful retreat and a vibrant community space.
Allison Street Food Forest: An innovative urban corner lot that combines food production with conservation, providing fresh produce for the local community.
While we celebrate, we also look to the future and the ongoing efforts needed to protect and enhance our greenspaces. We are currently focusing on an exciting project at Buena Vista Terrace, and we need your support to make it a success.
By donating to the project, you will be contributing to the first phase of improvements by addressing the re-emerging invasive species and preparing the site for future phases. Elements currently in the final plans include an arbor portal to welcome visitors into the site, a remembrance wall for those lost to violence within the community, terraced seating, a multi-purpose platform with mural and chalk walls, stormwater management, and various plantings to beautify the site.
But the fun isn’t over yet! To cap off the month, we invite you to join us at Hellbender Brewing Company for Land Conservation Day! This event promises to be a fun and engaging way to celebrate conservation while enjoying some of the best local brews. The fun will include tree tours, live music, raffles & games, BBQ food truck, and an exclusive Casey Trees seasonal seltzer!
