A Hot Summer Makes Thirsty Trees

As we step into the heart of summer, the heat is making its presence known. The days are longer, the sun is stronger, and the temperature is rising. While we might find ways to stay cool and hydrated, our trees need a little extra help to thrive during these scorching months.

At Casey Trees, we know that summer is the most critical season for watering our trees. With the high temperatures and dry conditions, trees are more vulnerable to stress and dehydration – making it essential to ensure they receive adequate water to stay healthy and strong.

To help you keep your trees happy, we release our Weekly Watering Alert in the Leaflet every Monday evening, April 1 through October 31. Watering alerts are determined using local weather forecasts and NOAA/National Weather Service’s observed precipitation amounts for the DC metro area.

In addition to our alerts, we’ve put together a helpful video that demonstrates proper watering techniques and shares valuable insights on ways to water your trees. Whether you’re a new tree parent or have enjoyed a tree’s shade for years, this video will equip you with the knowledge to support our canopy all summer.

Don’t let the heat take a toll on your trees, watch the video below to ensure your trees remain vibrant and healthy throughout the season! Together, we can keep our urban forest thriving, one tree at a time.
