THE LEAFLET
Meet the Student Conservation Association
At Casey Trees, our commitment to environmental education is unwavering. We firmly believe in empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills to become stewards of our planet. We equally believe in the power of young people to enact positive change. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs, we strive to cultivate a deep-rooted love for nature among young minds.
One such thriving partnership that we’re immensely proud of is with the Student Conservation Association (SCA). As the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and young adults, the SCA shares our vision of fostering a generation of environmental leaders. Together, we are working tirelessly to provide high schoolers and young adults in the District with invaluable paid work experience, kickstarting their careers in environmental stewardship.
The SCA’s mission aligns seamlessly with our own. The SCA believes in building equitable access to nature, offering green job opportunities, and nurturing environmental stewardship among its members. They provide young people in metropolitan areas with paid green jobs, ranging from single-day service projects to seasonal work and year-long internships or fellowships.
Recently, we had the privilege of sitting down with the current SCA Youth Ambassadors to gain insights into their experiences and aspirations for the future. Their stories are inspiring and reflect the transformative power of environmental education. We invite you to watch the video below to hear directly from these remarkable individuals:
You can support our Youth Ambassadors and help them reach their goal of planting 100 trees by clicking here to receive FREE trees today. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of these young environmentalists and in the health of our city. Join us in nurturing the seeds of environmental stewardship and catch our Youth Ambassadors later this month at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum on Saturday April 20th as we Honor and Celebrate our Earth!
