A Great Year For Trees

It’s been a great year for DC’s trees, and we ended the year even stronger than expected! In 2023, we planted over 6,000 trees, engaged with over 4,000 volunteers, visited 51 schools and worked with 3,188 students, and shipped over 8,000 trees from our farm. We also planted our 50,000th tree early in the year, a milestone we could have only dreamed about when Casey Trees began planting in 2001.

In addition to all the support we receive from our volunteers, donors, partner organizations, and the greater community – we are able to meet our goals and achieve these milestones through the hard work of Casey Trees staff.

Our staff works tirelessly year-round to realize our mission of restoring, enhancing, and protecting the tree canopy of the nation’s capital. Whether it’s our arborists and tree operations crew planting and caring for trees, our GIS team mapping trees and performing analysis, our education team teaching the next generation of environmental stewards about trees, our policy and land conservation team advocating for tree protections and tracking local development and easements, our communications and development team sharing our work and mission to all, our farm providing high quality tree stock for us and our partners, or our administrative team working to support all employees – Casey Trees staff is here doing the work every day. Because of the efforts of our dedicated staff, we are able to fulfill our important mission and continue to re-tree DC.

We celebrate all the great accomplishments and milestones of 2023, and we look forward to what we will all accomplish together in 2024. Happy holidays from all of us at Casey Trees!
