Giving Tuesday

This Tuesday is Giving Tuesday, one of the biggest and most impactful giving days of the year, especially for local nonprofits like ours. Current tree canopy coverage stands at 37%, but our goal is to get to 40% by 2032. We can’t do that without the dedicated support of donors and volunteers like you. Please join us this Giving Tuesday in our mission to restore, enhance, and protect the tree canopy of our nation’s capital.

Giving Tuesday is a global philanthropic movement that takes place annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Founded in 2012 as a response to the consumer-driven shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday encourages people to shift their focus from commercialism to generosity. Individuals are urged to contribute to nonprofits, charities, and community projects, fostering a spirit of giving and making a positive impact on various social, environmental, and humanitarian issues. Giving Tuesday has grown exponentially since its inception, with millions of people around the world participating and helping to create a powerful force for positive change.

Making a gift to Casey Trees this Giving Tuesday is a sure way to be part of that positive change. Since our founding, we have planted over 50,000 trees and just over 5,500 in 2023, our most ever in a single year! We know that a lack of trees in an area causes higher temperatures, lack of shade, and stormwater runoff, and that historically underserved communities bear the brunt of those effects. That’s why we focus our planting and engagement efforts in those communities, to help ensure that the benefits of trees are felt equitably across the District. Every person deserves the beauty, flood resilience, and clean air that trees provide. Help us achieve that and plant even more trees in 2024 with a tax-deductible donation today.

We know there are many choices for worthy causes to give to this year, and we appreciate you considering Casey Trees. To help us reach our goal with a non-monetary contribution, consider signing up for our weekly e-newsletter, participating in a volunteer event, or requesting a free tree for your residence. We’re here for the trees – join us!
