End of Year Events For Everyone

Join us outside as the leaves and temperatures keep dropping this November and into December!

We’ve got a ton of fun events coming your way this season, whether you’d like to join us virtually at our advocacy workshop, grab a cup of coffee at Compass, or get your hands dirty at a tree planting – there’s something for everyone. Hope to see you there!

For the coffee lovers:

Wednesday 11/16 – Bark and Beans Tree Walk with Compass Coffee

Take a lunch break with Compass Coffee and Casey trees for a cup of coffee and a tree walk around the neighborhood! Enjoy an easy paced, 45-minute walk to learn about local trees, tree ID, and discuss the need for trees in urban spaces. The official Casey Trees tree species guide will be available as an add-on when you reserve your ticket. Purchase of a guide is not a ticket to the event and is not necessary to participate.

For the person who ALWAYS voices their opinion:

Wednesday 11/16 – Virtual Environmental Advocacy Workshop

Join staff from Casey Trees’ Policy & Land Conservation team as we explore what it means to be an advocate for both the environment and your community! You can expect to learn about the structure of the District’s government, the agencies that work on environmental issues here in DC, and how to contact and talk to your Council member through testimony or letters.

You will be able to practice your writing skills and use what you learn here to advocate for issues that impact your community. Register for our event and help make DC a greener city!

For those looking to get their hands dirty:

Friday 11/25 – #OptOutside Day at Oxon Run Park

Our organizations invite you to join us in the park and be part of the movement to #OptOutside. This idea started by the outdoor store REI in 2015 by giving their employees the day after Thanksgiving off to encourage getting outside. It has grown to be a movement to make everyone feel welcome outside. Join us for an hour with Sage Raindancer, who will guide us along the park in a forest bathing experience. Stay for another hour of connecting through various nature themed activities.

Thank you to our Partners – Friends of Oxon Run, Raindancer Healing Arts, Capital Nature, DC’s Department of Parks and Recreation, APACC, UDC Master Naturalists
