Casey Trees would like to congratulate Director Everett Lott as the newly appointed Director of the District Department of Transportation! The Department of Transportation (DDOT) houses the Urban Forestry Division (UFD), which is responsible for managing DC’s urban forest. Director Lott was appointed as Interim Director of DDOT earlier this year and has since focused on building equity in transportation access and safety across the District.
Prior to working in this position, Director Lott worked for the Federal Highway Administration and the Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
Back in June, Casey Trees was lucky enough to sit down with Director Lott and environmental advocates from around the city to talk about DDOT’s budget and program priorities for the coming year. He told us how excited he was about the investment that DC and DDOT have made in expanding the District’s tree canopy, and how he looks forward to working with UFD and other partners to continue this progress.
