Adopt a Tree: Honor and celebrate the people, pets and events that have touched and shaped your life

While for many Memorial Day marks the opening of pools and the unofficial start of summer, the holiday is mainly a way to remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our beautiful country.

There are many ways to honor folks, and no way is right or wrong. We offer the option to dedicate a memorial tree, where you can physically take part in planting your dedicated tree. Not a D.I.Y-er or not in D.C.? Fear not! You can still celebrate loved ones or mark an occasion by symbolically adopting a tree.

Symbolically adopt a southern magnolia, scarlet oak, river birch, flowering dogwood, or bald cypress. This is a symbolic adoption that supports our tree planting and education programs but does not involve the planting of a particular tree, so you can take advantage of it right away (as opposed to waiting for the upcoming planting season).

Your Tree adoption includes:

  • One symbolic tree adoption
  • A commemorative Certificate of Adoption sent to the honoree
  • Confirmation letter and tax receipt sent to the purchaser

Whether you’re celebrating a new life or remembering a beloved one, these trees will serve as a living tribute that will benefit our planet for years to come.
