1398 trees planted this spring through CTP program

This spring, 637 adult and 404 youth volunteers helped us plant 1398 trees across the District at parks, schools and in communities as part of our Community and School Tree Planting programs.

“This season, the Casey Trees staff and volunteers appreciated planting in and around incredible places,” said  Casey Trees Arborist Becky Schwartz. “This  included National Park Service forests, community landmarks, neighborhood schools and D.C. cultural icons.”

A season highlight was the planting of Casey Trees’ 20,000th tree. Director of Tree Planting Jim Woodworth took this planting, at Fort Dupont Park in Southeast D.C., as an opportunity to reflect: “It was a great moment to pause in the present and reflect on the many planting projects both in the past and those yet to come, where so many helping hands from our community partners and volunteers make our work possible and meaningful in achieving our long term mission.  Here’s to another 20,000!”
