Fall Tree Care Tips

Despite the passing of summer’s heat, it’s important to remember that trees — especially three years or younger — still need love and care in order to thrive next spring.

Here are some fall tree care tips.

Mulch

Mulching during each season helps protect the soils around the tree and controls weeds naturally.

When mulching remember to use the 3-3-3 rule: 3 inches of mulch in a 3-foot ring with a 3-inch space around the tree trunk. Do not volcano mulch!

Water

Keep watering trees with 25 gallons of water a week. Our watering alerts will run through the end of October, so stay tuned to the Leaflet and our social media for each week’s alert.

Protect

Installing a tree guard is a great way to protect a tree’s nutrient and water system. They also protect a tree from smaller wildlife — such as rodents.

If deer are common in your area — we recommend installing a deer fence.
