Internships and Work Study Positions

There are no internship opportunities currently available, but you are welcome to email your resume to the director of the department you are most interested in interning for. If a project or position arises that meets your skill set, they will contact you directly.

High School Summer Crew

Our Summer Crew is a high school jobs program where students serve as caretakers for D.C.’s trees in the summer. General responsibilities include watering, weeding and mulching trees. Crew members work 35 hours per week at $9 per hour and travel to worksites by truck and bicycle teams under adult supervision.

The 2013 Summer Crew session will run from June 27 to August 9.

Applicants must be:

  • 16 years of age or older;
  • enrolled in or just graduating from a high school in the D.C. area;
  • willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions with a variety of landscaping tools and equipment;
  • interested in caring for and learning about trees;
  • committed to teamwork and achieving goals;
  • able to lift and carry 40 pounds

A select number of candidates are invited to interview in person. Finalists must participate in a two-day field tryout on June 24 and 25 to experience firsthand the demands of the job and to demonstrate their abilities.
