DESCRIPTION:Join us in planting trees at Catholic University of America!\n\n\nWelcome back to our spring season of Community Tree Plantings! Join us as we plant trees at Catholic University of America. This event is sponsored by Latham and Watkins. \nYou provide the volunteers\, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques\, participants will be split up into groups supervised by a trained volunteer Team Leader and begin planting trees throughout the space. \n \nRegister now! The week before this event\, we will send a logistics and directions email with detailed information about how to get to the site. You will receive this email ONLY if you are signed-up for this planting. \n \nRequirements \nRegister: Register in advance. Space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event\, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers. \nWaiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the Tree Planting event. \nYouth Volunteers: Youth volunteers may participate with an adult supervisor. \nClothes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and other protections for sun\, bugs and poison ivy. \nShoes: Close toed shoes required\, boots are preferred over sneakers. \nSkills: No specific skills or tools required. Each event starts with a tool safety and planting demonstration. Volunteers work alongside experienced Team Leaders and staff. \nArrival: Arrive on time. Check-in opens at 8:00am until 8:30am. The event will begin at 8:30am and all volunteers must be present for the tool safety demonstration at the start of the event. \nWater: Bring a full water bottle! Water will be available on site if needed. \nFood: No food will be provided on site\, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event. \nAnimals: No animals are allowed into the event\, except for service animals. \n \nWhat to expect on site: \n8:00am – Check in opens \n8:00am – 8:30am -Breakfast is served \n8:30am – Opening remarks and tool safety demo \n9:00am – Planting begins\, at which time volunteers will be split into planting teams\, each lead by a Team Leader. Each team will plant 2-3 trees. \n \nGetting There \nParking: Parking may be available on site\, details to follow. Limited street parking available\, carpooling is encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles. \nBike Parking: Bikes can be locked to nearby signs. \nPublic Transportation: The nearest metro stop is the Brookland-CUA metro stop on the red line. \n \nSupport Casey Trees \nDonate to Casey Trees to Restore\, Enhance and Protect D.C.’s Tree Canopy!
