DESCRIPTION:Join us in planting trees at Hamilton Manor Apartments sponsored by the American Institute of Architects!\n\n\nWelcome to our spring season of Community Tree Plantings! \nYou provide the volunteers\, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to plant the trees. Participants will receive a hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques\, participants will be split up into groups supervised by a trained volunteer Team Leader and begin planting trees throughout the site. This planting is presented in partnership with the American Institute of Architects. \n \nRegister now! The week before this event\, we will send a logistics and directions email with detailed information about how to get to the site. You will receive this email ONLY if you are signed-up for this planting. \n \nWho should attend? \nOpen to everyone\, you do not need any prior experience to join us and on-site training will be provided. \n \nRequirements \nRegister: Register in advance. Space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event\, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers. \nWaiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the Tree Planting event. \nYouth Volunteers: Youth volunteers may participate with an adult supervisor. \nClothes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and other protections for sun\, bugs and poison ivy. \nShoes: Close toed shoes required\, boots are preferred over sneakers. \nSkills: No specific skills or tools required. Each event starts with a tool safety and planting demonstration. Volunteers work alongside experienced Team Leaders and staff. \nArrival: Arrive on time. Check-in opens at 8:00am\, a half hour prior to the indicated start time and volunteers must be present for the tool safety demonstration at the start of the event. \nWater: Bring a full water bottle! Water will be available on site if needed. \nAnimals: No animals are allowed into the event\, except for service animals. \n \nWhat to expect on site: \nSign-In opens at 8:00am \nTool safety demo is at 8:30am – If you miss the demo you cannot participate in the tree planting \nTeam leaders are announced and you begin working with your team \nPlant 2-3 trees with your team \n \nGetting There \nParking: Parking may be available on site. Parking details to follow. DESCRIPTION:Join Casey Trees this Winter Solstice!\n\n\nJoin Casey Trees as we celebrate the Winter Solstice! \nJoin us for reflective nature time\, crafts\, tea and snacks that give thanks to our trees as they enter the winter months. We will gather on this transition day and acknowledge it as the shortest day of the year\, and the darkest. Learn about the work we do to protect our trees\, gather with the community\, and enjoy some down time with the start of winter. \nWhat is winter solstice? It is known as the first day of winter and when the earth’s tilt to the sun causes the shortest amount of daylight in a day during the year. Cultures around the world celebrate fire and light on this day. It is also a time when nature shifts\, like our trees. They have lost leaves to prepare for the colder\, darker days in order to store up energy until spring. \nActivities \n\n1 –1:30 PM Nature walk and conversation\nVisti our youth- friendly craft station\n\n\nLearn to make a pressed leaf candles\n\n\nHug a tree and leave a note to let go of 2024 and welcome 2025\nEnjoy local tea and cookies\n\nOur Partners \nDreaming Out Loud \nDOL is rebuilding urban\, community-based food systems through cooperative social enterprise: increasing access to healthy food\, improving community health\, supporting entrepreneurs and cooperatives from low-income communities; and creating opportunities for at-risk residents to earn sustainable\, family-supporting wages and build wealth. \nThe Green Scheme \nBridges communities and resources to empower youth to live healthy and sustainable lives. \nGetting There \nParking: Parking may be available on site.
