Park Inventory: Langdon Park
October 20 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm UTC-4
Come discover this green, hilly park in Northeast D.C. – Arborists need your help!
Join us in measuring trees at Langdon Park. Arborists need our help in cataloging this important green space so come contribute to gathering the information we need for management and maintenance of this expansive green space. Participants will receive a short, hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques participants will split into groups and begin measuring trees. We will be documenting tree species, height, diameter of the trunk, width of the crown, overall health and more.
Who Should Attend?
Open to the general public, you do not need any prior experience to join us. If you have participated in our Trees 101 or Trees 201 class, this will be a great way to put your knowledge into action!
We will plan to conduct the inventory rain or shine so please wear appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes for walking short distances. Participants are welcome to bring water and a snack.
Getting ThereLangdon Park is located off Rhode Island Ave NE. Metrobus lines such as 83. 86, E2, B8, B9, H6, G9, S41, T14, T18 all stop in proximity to this green space. The closest Metro is either Brookland-CUA or Rhode Island Avenue Metro but it is a good bit of a walk.
Where to Meet
Be on the lookout for the green/white Casey Trees table. Participants will be emailed a detailed map closer to the inventory date. The inventory will be held on the western portion of the park.
