Park Inventory: Kalorama Park
June 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm UTC-5Free
Join Casey Trees and city arborists in Adams Morgan on a lovely summer day to collect important information about trees in Kalorama Park!
If you love trees, science and discovering new parks, this is the event for you! Come put your tree skills to the test and take in some fresh air with fellow nature enthusiasts.
Participants will receive a short, hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques, participants will split into groups and begin assessing trees. We will document tree species, height, trunk diameter, crown width, overall health, and more.
Who Should Attend?
Open to the general public, you do not need any prior experience to join us. If you have participated in our Trees 101 or Trees 201 class, this will be a great way to put your knowledge into action!
We will plan to conduct the inventory rain, shine or with frosty temperatures so please wear appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes for walking short distances. Participants are welcome to bring water and light snacks.
Kalorama Park is just up the hill from Rock Creek. It’s about a fifteen minute walk from Woodley Park-Zoo / Adams Morgan Metro Station: go south-east on Connecticut Ave., left at Kalorama Rd. for two blocks. Closest buses are the L1 and L2.
Where to Meet
Be on the lookout for the green/white Casey Trees table near the corner of Colombia Rd NW and Kalorama St NW. Participants will be emailed a detailed map closer to the inventory date.
