Park Inventory: Folger Park
July 18 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDTFree
Cooped up in an office all day? Want to take in some fresh air while you finesse your tree species knowledge? Come spend an evening outside, cataloging trees and taking in this lovely park in Capitol Hill.
We will be surveying for health, size and species. Participants will receive a short, hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques participants will split into groups and begin measuring trees. We will document tree species, height, trunk diameter, crown width, overall health and more.
Who Should Attend?
Open to the general public, you do not need any prior experience to join us. If you have participated in our Trees 101 or Trees 201 class, this will be a great way to put your knowledge into action!
- No specific skills required.
- Register in advance. Space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status.
We will plan to conduct the inventory rain, shine or with frosty temperatures so please wear appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes for walking short distances. Participants are welcome to bring water and light snacks.
Folger Park is one block east on D St. SE from Capitol South Metro Station.
Where to Meet
Be on the lookout for the green/white Casey Trees table. Participants will be emailed a detailed map closer to the inventory date.
