Meet In Your Park: Takoma Recreation Center
Thu April 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDTFree
Have you ever wondered who is responsible for planting and taking care of trees in DC? Have you ever wondered about the connection between trees and community health? Are you curious about outdoor events you can attend this spring? Then stop by our Meet in Your Park events and chat with Casey Trees, DDOT’s Urban Forestry Division, and EcoLatinos. Casey Trees is an organization working to restore, enhance, and protect the urban tree canopy of Washington, DC. Basically, we plant trees, care for trees, teach people how to advocate for trees, and lead educational events. We’ve partnered with several organizations for this event to talk about how individuals like you can make a positive difference in your community and keep your neighborhood green.
For this event, the District Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Division will have information on invasive species and the importance of protecting trees. EcoLatinos will have materials on how you can get more involved in your community, including service events and outdoor programs.
Ask Casey Trees about getting free trees for your home, school, faith group, and community and how you can stay involved with us through our volunteer opportunities and community events.
Registration is free and all are welcome to attend! For information about this event and other exciting news, sign up for our newsletter, The Leaflet.
We will be meeting at Takoma Recreation Center on the northwest side of the park by the dog park.
