Apple Tree Grafting Seminar with Casey Trees

Join Casey Trees Field Manager Nick Smalley for this exciting new workshop to learn about the basics of fruit tree grafting, and take home your own baby apple tree! We’ll cover proper grafting techniques, discuss the benefits of fruit trees and how they differ from shade trees, and each attendee will get to walk away with a freshly grafted apple tree!
Register now! The week before this event, we will send a logistics and directions email with detailed information about how to get to the site. You will receive this email ONLY if you are signed-up for this event.
Who should attend?
Anyone! Open to the general public, you do not need any prior experience to join us.
Requirements
Register: Register in advance. Space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers.
Waiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the event.
Youth Volunteers: Youth volunteers may participate with an adult supervisor provided they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Clothes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and close toed shoes.
Skills: No specific skills or tools required.
Arrival: Arrive on time. Check-in opens at 4:45pm, please plan to arrive promptly.
Water: Bring a full water bottle! Water will be available on site if needed.
Food: No food will be provided on site, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event.
Animals: No animals are allowed into the event, except for service animals.
COVID-19 Policy: Casey Trees is now requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our events. One of the following options will demonstrate proof of vaccination:
– A physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card
– A digital copy/photo of a CDC Vaccination Card
– A COVID-19 Verification App such as VaxYes or CLEAR
Please bring a photo ID and one of the above listed options to provide proof of vaccination. You may not be asked to show proof of vaccination during our outdoor event, however you may need to show proof of vaccination to use any indoor facilities.
Getting There
Parking: Street parking is available, carpooling is encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles.
Bike Parking: Bikes can be locked to nearby signs.
Public Transportation: The nearest metro bus stop is Rock Creek Church Rd NW & Upshur St NW, served by buses 60 and H8.
