So how are arborists, community foresters, and researchers participating in this audio revolution? We collected some notable tree-related podcasts and episodes. If you’re at all familiar with podcasts, you’ve probably heard of Radiolab. This particular episode features the mind-bending research of Suzanne Simard. Her work shows that the root systems of forests form a sort of neural network, perhaps even a kind of plant consciousness. #mindblown

Trees are Key | Texas A&M Forest Service
An academic podcast dedicated to helping listeners care for their trees. The short weekly podcast features a short lesson, a weekly tree highlight and upcoming tree related events around the state of Texas – although maybe we’re biased because our Certified Tree Advocates were featured on this!

100 Years of Forestry in Scotland | Scotland Outdoors | BBC Radio Scotland
While the Scotland Outdoors podcast has episodes on everything from what to cook successfully over to a campfire to rock climbing and even birding, we were unsurprisingly drawn to this podcast that goes down the rabbit hole of forestry throughout the country. While they cover a lot, they couldn’t possibly cover it all – it’s estimated that Scotland’s Fortingall Yew is one of the oldest trees in Britain, with modern estimates believing it to be between 2,000 and 3,000 years old!

Resilient New York: Urban Forestry, Shared Stewardship and Climate Adaptation | America Adapts
Touted as the leading podcast on climate change, this episode packs a punch -fifteen different experts speak throughout the two hour long episode, on topics from resilience, research, restoration and even Hurricane Sandy. 

From the Woods Kentucky | WRFL 88.1
Harkening back to the beginnings of podcasts, this weekly radio show from the University of Kentucky’s Department of Forestry and Natural Resources leans towards research and science, but they also have fun episodes like “Creepy Things from the Forest” or “Great Backyard Bird Count” anyone?
