You and your children are invited to join us at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center for our Buds family program, a tree-focused story time aimed toward an audience of toddlers and preschoolers.
Saturday, April 9 Tree Tour: Cherry Blossoms with Washington Walks
Join Washington Walks and Casey Trees for a walking tour recounting how Japanese cherry trees came to be planted in the District and the different varieties found in the area. The walk will also include up-close looks at other notable trees along the National Mall.
Sunday, April 17 Tree Amnesty: Vine Control Volunteer Day
Learn how to identify and control species of non-native, invasive vines found in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
Thursday, April 28 The Third Annual Canopy Awards
The Canopy Awards is a no-holds-barred night filled with awesome food and drink, special guests and endless fun dedicated to celebrating D.C.’s trees and toasting individuals doing amazing work to re-tree D.C. Tickets are still available here!
Friday, April 29 Park Inventory: Meridian Hill
It might surprise you to know there is no current record of the trees in our parks. But you can help change that! Come join Casey Trees and DDOT’s Urban Forestry Administration in a first of its kind collaboration, as we survey the trees in Meridian Hill Park.
Sunday, May 1 Tree Tour: Frederick Douglass National Historic Site with Melanie Choukas-Bradley
Come along for a tour of historic Cedar Hill, the former home of Frederick Douglass, followed by a tree tour on the surrounding grounds led by City of Trees author Melanie Choukas-Bradley.
Wednesday, May 11 Park Inventory: Upper Senate
Casey Trees and DDOT’s Urban Forestry Administration are collaborating to survey and take inventory of the trees in this historic location in the shadow of the Capitol Building and we would love to have your help!
Thursday, May 12 Tree Advocates Meeting: Urban Design for Tree Preservation
Want to learn how to better preserve city green spaces? Join for an inside look at how the city and local experts create and maintain green spaces in D.C. Our featured speakers will discuss innovative approaches to planning that preserve trees and green spaces for their shade, recreational, stormwater management, and aesthetic benefits.
