Did you know that this July marks 30 years of Parks and Recreation Month?
Guest speakers include Keith Anderson, Director of D.C.’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and Peter Harnik of the Trust for Public Land, founder of both the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and the Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail. Both will share their thoughts on the importance of green spaces and their vision for providing more and better places for people to appreciate nature, exercise, socialize and have fun.
As an attendee, you will also be part of a big ask — getting DPR to adopt a 50 percent canopy goal for city park land, which currently sits at 36 percent canopy coverage. Your presence and support can make a huge difference in getting that ask accepted.
