Kojo hosts the Canopy Awards

Kojo Nnamdi, one of Washington D.C.’s most popular radio personalities, will take to the stage this Arbor Day Eve — Thursday, April 23 — as special guest emcee of the 2015 Canopy Awards.

Nnamdi’s credentials are lengthy — he is the former host of Evening Exchange, a public affairs television program broadcast by WHUT-TV at Howard University and served as news editor and then news director producing the award-winning local news program The Daily Drum.

But Nnamdi is perhaps best and most widely known as the current host of The Kojo Nnamdi Show and The Politics Hour on WAMU 88.5 — and for his sonorous voice that welcomes a lineup of provocative guests to discuss their perspectives on topics of the day.

Beyond being recognized as one of the best radio interviewers in town, the National Council for Community Justice recognized Nnamdi as a civil rights hero in 2001 and Washingtonian Magazine heralded him as “Washingtonian of the Year”.

We are thrilled Nnamdi has accepted our invitation to host the 2015 Canopy Awards and help us pay tribute to the individuals working tirelessly to re-tree D.C.
