Introduction

The Chinese fringetree is an exotic, beautiful flowering tree that is excellent as an ornamental for its lovely flowers and ability to fill a space with its wide spread.

Leaf
Leaves are broad, simple ovate to oblong-elliptic, hairy

Flower
Pure white, fragrant flowers hang in 4 in long clusters that appear to cover the tree with snowy white cotton for two to three weeks

Fruit/nut
The fruit is a blue-black drupe 1–1.5 centimeters long and 0.6–1 centimeters in diameter

Stout, brown-colored with leaves extending oppositely

Thick fissured bark

Symmetrical rounded crown with moderate density

Typically grows 15 to 20 feet high and 20 to 25 feet wide

Native to eastern Asia, in eastern and central China, Korea, and Japan
