While Casey Trees helps District residents add trees on private property through its Community Tree Planting, RiverSmart Homes and Tree Rebate programs, the Urban Forestry Administration (part of DDOT) is charged with establishing a full population of street trees within the District and assuring that those street trees are maintained in a healthy and safe condition.
Street trees are trees located between the curb and sidewalk on all District-owned lands. Currently, an estimated 130,000 trees line the District's roadways.
