George Washington University

Casey Trees and GW have partnered to ensure that trees are an integral part of the campus landscape. Casey Trees provides technical assistance to campus planning efforts and helps engage students in greening initiatives. Activities include:

  • 30 trees planted by 150 student and community volunteers (Mt Vernon campus)
  • Inventory of trees on the Foggy Bottom campus conducted by GEO187 students
  • Trees included in Presidential Task Force on Sustainability Report
  • Participation in Campaign GW-sponsored Tree Forums and Streetscape Expos
  • New tree box and planter areas created in front of The Aston student housing

University of Virginia

In 2006, a UVa School of Architecture design team worked with Casey Trees to complete a study of DC’s Watts Branch Watershed. The team looked at regreening opportunities, with special emphasis on the Lincoln Heights community and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, both slated for redevelopment.  Maps, images, and a Field Guide from this study are available for download at right
