TD Bank partners with Casey Trees to plant more than 30 trees

TD Bank will plant more than 50,000 trees nationwide during its TD Tree Days  this fall. The goal of this campaign is simple:  connect local TD Bank branch employees to and help better their communities by planting trees with neighborhood volunteers.

In D.C., TD Bank will partner with Casey Trees for this event on October 28 at Fort Mahan Park in Ward 7. The planting will take place along the Hiker Biker trail segment between Benning Road and 41st St NE. The area had been developed but is now being transformed back into usable, shaded park space.

The plan includes 35 shade trees with the goal of improving the park and trail by defining space boundaries, demarcating trail heads and framing the interior recreation space.

Volunteers at the planting will include TD Bank employees, Gallaudet University students and volunteers from the Boys and Girls Club that neighbors the park.

And this isn’t the first time TD Bank has partnered with Casey Trees.  In 2012, TD Bank sponsored a planting at the Takoma Park Recreation Center for that year’s Tree Days, adding 34 trees to the community gathering place in Ward 4.

This planting is made possible with funding from TD Bank and the Sustainable DC Budget Challenge Grant.
